Historically, teachers taught students to solve problems. Single-- isolated--finite--stand alone- limited-problems. Current best practice suggests teachers use math "problems" as the tool to teach students how to approach problems--any problem--not just THE problem. Math requires analysis, and allowing students to make mistakes, analyze those mistakes, and provide multiple ways of solving problems, allows students to understand the content better. Math should be more student-centered.

\nCoaching in the math classroom is both the same and different as other content areas. Coaching in any content areas requires the coach to help teachers help students achieve and succeed using the 4 lenses. As coaches, we can share our background with the four lenses in this collaborative process, as we know mindfulness of the lenses yields great results.
