Challenge Based Learning Model (CBL)

The Challenge Based Learning Model (CBL) is an instructional approach that focuses on increasing student engagement, especially for students most at risk of dropping out. According to the Challenge Based Learning website hosted by Apple Education, "Challenge Based Learning is an engaging multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to leverage the technology they use in their daily lives to solve real-world problems through efforts in their homes, schools and communities." Unlike problem-based learning, CBL is a collaborative learning experience in which teachers and students work together to learn about compelling issues, propose solutions to real problems, and take action. Below are links to Challenge Based Learning (CBL) examples and resources that address the philosophical and pedagogical underpinnings of this collaboration strategy.
